ITALIAN TRADE AGENCY’S REPORT ON US-ITALY TRADE; ITALY KEPT ITS 10TH PLACE AMONG THE INVESTING COUNTRIES IN US

In October 2018, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) made available a report containing useful information on bilateral investments between USA and Italy. The new data concern the months from January to August.

The good news is that US-Italy trade continued its positive trend, increasing 17.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Italy kept its 10th place among U.S. commercial partners.

The first months of 2018 kept up the growing trend registered in 2017 for the following categories of products : chemical and pharmaceutical products grew 12.3%, semi-finished products and components + 33.7%, food and beverages + 11%, fashion and accessories + 11.7%, transportation + 15.7%, furniture and construction + 11.7%, and mechanics + 13.6%.

According to the data of the U.S. Department of Commerce, there are also some positive trends with reference to high tech products imported in the United States from Italy: aerospace (+57.9%), armaments (+49.1%), optoelectronics (+28.1%), and electronics(+11,8%).
